About me,

Ruth Jameson PhD, IBCLC (she/her)

I’m an experienced breastfeeding mom of twins, a lactation consultant and a nutritional scientist.

I’ve been helping families nourish their babies since 2009. I believe human milk is the best for babies, but I know that many factors shape parents’ visions for their families. I work with each family where they are to create a care plan that can help them achieve their goals for feeding their baby.

Food fascinates me. It affects our emotions, longterm health, and connections to others. Before becoming a mom and learning about breastfeeding, I earned a PhD in human nutrition from University of Illinois at Chicago. My research focussed on how selenium gets put into proteins by our bodies. In my postdoctoral fellowship at Duke University, I studied the effects of some pesticides on brain development.

I breastfed all three of my children, including twins born prematurely.  In my free time I love cooking, gardening, and hiking.
